Animals deserve dignity

There is the argument that animals were made for human use and food - but cannot the tiger, who eats people, upon similar grounds argue that humans were made for tigerfood?  There is no reason in the belief that the world was made for humanity, or our enjoyment. A tree does not belong to any person, not the farmer, not the farmer's King - not any more than the farmer belongs to their King.  The domestication of animals needs to be undertaken upon equal terms, humanely: animals should be treated with every dignity, as every human being must, no matter how poor, weak or small.  By learning to treat animals with dignity, we shall learn how to treat each other with dignity.
